A trek through the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal inspired a collaborative exhibition of Malcolm’s photographs together with his daughter’s paintings.

Melanie is a talented artist and has produced Oil on Canvas interpretations based on his photographs and in doing so has flavoured them with her own recollections.  The exhibition, called 'We See Things Differently', and ran in June 2006 at the Piece Gallery in Mullumbimby in northern New South Wales.

This collaborative exhibition dealt with the variety of perceptions people have. Of particular emphasis were the different ways of seeing that exist within families. It was anticpated that by exploring these differences creatively, through photography and paint, that acceptance and peace can grow.

Malcolm McDonald, an accomplished wildlife photographer having worked for over 40 years in the graphics arts industry, has travelled extensively in his search for the perfect photographs. Malcolm's photographs in this exhibition were taken whilst trekking in the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal with his daughter.

Melanie McDonald is a Diploma of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Education graduate who is presently exploring the ways that art students can 'unblock the creative block' for her PhD thesis at Southern Cross University. Melanie's paintings in this exhibition are a personal response to her father's photographs, reflecting her own experience of the journey.
